Strategic advice for Herkenrode Abbey

In 2013, the Herita listed buildings support centre wanted to develop Herkenrode Abbey into an attractive leisure and tourist destination. IDEA facilitated workshops to further clarify the desired development and to draw up a clear vision with broad support. In 2017, the city of Hasselt asked IDEA Consult to facilitate a similar repositioning exercise for Herkenrode, paying extra attention to the budgetary constraints placed on the relevant authorities for investment and exploitation. This was done through workshops with field experts from various sectors. The route led to a fundamental repositioning of the Abbey.
