Costs and beneftis of dual learning
After a series of pilot projects on dual learning (a learning method where students combine education at school with an apprenticeship in a company), the Flemish government made a decree for the structural implementation of dual learning in Flemish education. To make the system a success, the willingness of companies, sectors, training providers and educational networks to participate in dual learning is crucial. Therefore, SYNTRA Flanders (the Agency that is in charge of the work placement component of dual learning) decided to do a cost-benefit analysis in order to identify and measure the costs and benefits of dual learning.
This study has multiple objectives:
- Perform a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the costs and benefits of dual learning in Flanders for companies, sectors, training providers and educational networks in Flanders, and this for a diverse set of educational programmes.
- Provide policy recommendations on financing dual learning in Flanders based on a global reflection on the possibilities of financing dual learning, taking into account the results of the cost-benefit analysis.
