Willem Devriendt (Ph.D.)
Since January 2019, Willem Devriendt has been working as a researcher and consultant at IDEA Consult in the field of innovation, competitiveness and sustainability. His main areas of interest are (econometric) impact analysis, innovative data methods, and facilitating multi-stakeholder collaborations. Topical areas he is involved with relate to broad societal transitions (including industrial modernisation), the mobility of researchers, sectoral analyses, and subsidy policy.
Willem obtained his Master of Science in Political Science (main subject International Politics) in 2009 and his Master of Science in Economics (main subject Economic Policy) at Ghent University in 2013 and holds a PhD in Economics (October 2018). Prior to joining IDEA Consult, he worked as a doctoral researcher in the Macroeconomics, Policy and Econometrics research group of Ghent University. His research focused on the effects of demographic change and (optimal) pension reform by simulating a large-scale model of the Belgian economy.
